I'd love to tell you about Sir Ratan Tata's lessons that you wish you had known sooner.

In addition, Mr. Ratan Tata is one of my inspirational and motivating idols, and I am honored to write about him.

Before we proceed, allow me to provide you with some background information on him, even though I am aware that you are already familiar with him.

"I don't believe in making the right decision; I make the right decision" - Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata is a well-known figure who requires no introduction. There isn't a single Indian who hasn't heard of this name. Many business owners look up to him as an example. Despite coming from a wealthy family, he never took power or wealth for granted.

Former chairman of Tata Sons and an Indian industrialist and philanthropist. Ratan Tata believes that a CEO's thinking and attitude can either make or break them. Tata Motors was able to achieve the historic contract with Ford Motors under his guidance and supervision.

Ratan Tata, one of India's most prominent and well-known businessmen, has many other interesting facts about him. The government of India awarded him the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan for his immeasurable contributions to national building.

"One of India's wealthiest men who is not a prisoner of greed"...

Without a doubt, Ratan Tata is a gentleman. A source of motivation for starting a business or living a life. All of his accomplishments speak to me. Preserving and humility, in particular. Through experiencing life's ups and downs over the last few years, I've learned the value of humility. It brings you back to earth and makes you more compassionate toward others.

So, shall we now explore the subject?

1. Begin at the bottom

Though he graduated from Harvard, he did not begin with a lucrative job; instead, he began as a blue-collar worker and gradually learned everything before rising to the position of Chairman of Tata Sons.

Don't make your son or daughter CEO or head of a function just because he or she has a degree; instead, let them start from scratch or learn from an outside organization, and then hand over your business to them, which will benefit both of you.

2. First and foremost, talents

When Ratan Tata was appointed Chairman of Tata Sons, he encountered opposition from his experienced company heads, but TATA forced them to resign by setting the retirement age and giving opportunities to young people and innovative ideas.

Whether your company is new or established, make sure everyone accepts top management decisions and works as a team. Remove any bugs as soon as possible to save your business. If you are given authority, do not favor your loved ones; instead, be stable and consider the future of your company. Prioritize innovative ideas.

3. Identify a problem

Ratan Tata believes that finding a problem to invest your energy and time in creating a venture that provides a solution to a problem is the best solution for your entrepreneur's dream.

If you want to be successful, don't copy from abroad and paste it in India; while some may work, the majority will not. Instead, identify the problem that your customers are experiencing and provide a solution. Don't start a business because it's sexy and everyone is talking about it; if you don't know what makes you different from the competition, don't start one.

4. Inspire yourself

When Ratan Tata was working in Jamshedpur, he approached his bosses with a slew of innovative ideas, but they ignored him and advised him to keep doing what he was doing. But he didn't give up; instead, he continued his lateral thinking and evolved into this.

It happens to all passionate employees; we share our ideas, but our bosses never respond to our emails, so we stop suggesting. Don't stop the young creator from thinking; instead, send them your valuable ideas until they realize how important you are in the business.

5. Trust, Values, and Commitment

You may have heard the breaking news in 2016 that Ratan Tata removed Cyrus Mistry from the chairman position, which shocked the entire corporate world because Ratan Tata himself found Cyrus Mistry for the chairman position with the belief that Cyrus Mistry is capable of taking his position, so why did Ratan Tata remove Cyrus Mistry?

There were several reasons for this, but experts believe the main reason was that Cyrus Mistry was more concerned with profits than with the Tata group's values and commitment.

6. Be a Visionary.

When Ratan Tata first joined his business group, it did very little business outside of India. Even though many people and circumstances tried to stop him, he insisted that the company go global. Today, half of Tata's revenue comes from outside the country. Under his leadership, Tata acquired many brands, including Tetley, Jaguar, Jaguar Land Rover, and Taj Boston.

7. Be humble.

Ratan Tata is well-known for his humility, and there are numerous examples of his humble nature. He used to be a blue-collar worker for Tata Steel. He personally went to the homes of the 80 employees who had been affected by the 26/11 attacks. He addresses everyone by their first name and is not dismissive.

8. Take chances

Taking risks is a cardinal rule of running a successful business. As a leader, you must have the foresight and the ability to take risks to propel your company to new heights. He was never afraid to take risks because he came from a business family. He once stated that he never believed in making the correct decision. Rather, he believed in making decisions and sticking to them. Ratan Tata made big moves and was successful in making things work in his favor, from acquiring Jaguar and Land Rover to taking over Corus, Europe's second-largest steel manufacturer.

"A life devoid of excitement, ups and downs are far too boring and dull." Why not start preparing to be a storyteller for your grandchildren now? We only get this life once, so we should make the most of it. No one has ever grown without falling at least once. Fail as many times as you can, and only you will succeed. So stop whining and start exploring," he has stated.
